Champions
for C.H.A.N.G.E.
Character
Has A Noble Goal…Excellence!
“Champions for CHANGE” will be the youth component of the
“Champions for Character” ambassador program for character excellence.
The word “CHANGE” is an acronym that stands for “Character Has A
Noble Goal… Excellence!” This
name was chosen to take advantage of the recent popularity of the concept of
“change”, but clearly spelling out what kind of “change” we are
referring to. The goal is for a
clear encouragement to embrace quality of character, while making a deliberate
choice to turn away from life choices rooted in poor character.
Additionally, we wish for students to recognize the value of the noble
goal of encouraging character excellence beyond themselves.
Through this program we hope to formalize a youth component to champion
character excellence, encouraging youth to “take a stand” and help lead the
charge for creating a culture of character. Our aim is to give a voice to teens
regarding the expectation to strive for character excellence, thereby
encouraging peers, younger youth and even adults, to be genuine character
mentors.

Teachers
advisors from each participating school
There is no telling the potential for character leadership of these young
minds. Advisors and students will
meet again quarterly through the Education Committee of the Character Council of
Hamburg to continue to discuss/share the individual efforts of each school and
to plan a character initiative as a group of Champions.
Discussions have already begun about expanding the Character Virtue
Posters into other communities and using such virtues to redefine how students
and staff are honored within our schools.
As a Council, we envision expanding the Champions For CHANGE
program into more high schools within our area.
In addition, we are looking to incorporate a character youth rally
corresponding with our 2nd Annual Character Conference in 2010, giving students
an opportunity to hear from leading character experts and partake in roundtable
character-focused discussions on pertinent worldly topics affecting our youth.
