Each month, the Board of Directors of Character Council of Hamburg selects a virtue to "highlight".  By promoting one ideal each month in schools, work and at home - the message of that quality is stronger, and more effective.  Please refer to the following list:

Truthfulness vs. Deception

Truthfulness is earning future trust by accurately reporting past facts.


October 2008 

Obedience vs. Willfulness

Obedience is quickly and cheerfully carrying out the direction of those who are responsible for me.


 

November 2008 

Gratefulness vs. Unthankfulness

Gratefulness is letting others know by my words and actions how they have benefited my life.


 

December 2008 

Generosity vs. Stinginess

Generosity is carefully managing my resources so I can freely give to those in need.  


 

January 2009 

Orderliness vs. Confusion

Orderliness is arranging myself and my surroundings to achieve greater efficiency.

 


February 2009 

Forgiveness vs. Rejection

Forgiveness is clearing the record of those who have wronged me, and not holding a grudge.

Sincerity vs. Hypocrisy

Sincerity is eagerness to do what is right with transparent motives.

Virtue vs. Impurity

Virtue is the moral excellence evident in my life as I consistently do what is right.

 


May 2009 

Honor vs. Disrespect

Honor is respecting others because of the higher authorities they represent.

Justice vs. Corruption

Justice is taking personal responsibility to uphold what is pure, right, and true.

 


July 2009 

Gentleness vs. Harshness

Gentleness is showing consideration and personal concern for others.

 


 

August 2009 

Faith vs. Presumption

Faith is confidence that actions rooted in good character will yield the best outcome, even when I cannot see how.
